RECOLLECTIONS OF LIGHT,  PRESENT SHADOWS.
When Director Manabu Gaku Inada discussed the Engineered Garments Fall/Winter 2024 film with Daiki Suzuki, Daiki referred to the portrayal of shadows in the noir film The Third Man (1949). Coincidentally, Gaku also considered the first black-and-white short film he directed for Engineered Garments in 2013.
The collection is deeply influenced by 1980s fashion, creating a strong sense of familiarity and nostalgia by evoking the stylistic currents of the time. It intriguingly combines traditional styles with chaos, sparking excitement about the new directions it creates.
The film is reminiscent of movies and music videos from the 1980s and early 90s, during the post-punk transition to new wave. The context is based on film and art genres such as film noir, surrealism, and metaphysical painting. At the same time, it conveys the most recent concepts of the metaverse, a collective virtual shared space, and digital art through images and stories as a style.
