In the fall of 2020, I visited the Nepenthes office in Long Island City, NY, and discussed the core concept behind Engineered Garments' fall/winter 2021 collection with Daiki, the company's head designer.
We began by exploring Henry David Thoreau's book Walden: Life in the Woods. We examined how American outdoor culture, clothing brands like C.C. Filson and Woolrich, and the classic Field & Stream magazine influenced our creative process.
In line with Thoreau's principle of simplicity, I aimed to enhance the connection to the fall/winter collection style through the artwork. By focusing on typography as the main subject, I created a design that encourages viewers to expand their imagination based on the letters themselves.

The prints used a soft rubber board, but getting the edges was rugged.

The artwork incorporated surfing motifs into an outdoor theme.

The covers of the Look Book were designed to evoke the nostalgic feel of vintage outdoor catalogs.

The hang tag artwork was revised to match the Beanie cap and was produced using deboss printing.
