GAKU x ENGINEERED GARMENTS FW22 Art Prints
It was an exciting opportunity to see how the Engineered Garments FW22 collection, which focuses on the rough and tough styles of nautical, lighthouse keepers, and fishermen, would be reflected in the art prints. While looking at samples of clothes made with the gloomy monochrome worldview inspired by the film "The Lighthouse," we continued our discussion with designer Daiki, referring to movies, novels, music, and more. The cover design for Chick Corea's "Return to Forever" album came to mind with an image of the ocean that I remember. I also thought of a photo of a seagull on the jacket design that feels lonely yet strong. Daiki mentioned that he wanted to use a mermaid motif, so I presented a design based on Siren, a mythological sea monster that people often confuse with a mermaid.

Without a facial impression, Siren's artwork adds a mysterious and metaphysical feeling.
