A Cinematic Homage to Skate Heritage.
In June 2022, following the completion of the print designs for the Engineered Garments SS23 collection, Manabu Gaku Inada and Daiki Suzuki envisioned a film that would depart from their previous visual styles. Drawing deep inspiration from 80s skate culture—specifically the raw energy of Thrasher magazine and the seminal Powell Peralta film Public Domain—Gaku sought to translate that iconic aesthetic into a modern context.

The project, filmed in Long Island City, NY, is more than a visual document; it is a sensory experience. To complement the fluid, high-energy visuals, Gaku composed an original soundtrack—a sophisticated fusion of Dub, Latin, and Indie rhythms. This music was meticulously crafted to reflect the collection's current mood, bridging the gap between nostalgic street culture and contemporary urban sophistication.
