For the Spring/Summer 2020 collection, designer Daiki of Engineered Garments collaborated with Gaku to thematically interpret French style, which was central to this season's collection. The primary inspiration derived from the work of Boris Vian, a notable French figure active during the 1940s and 1950s, recognized for his contributions as a musician, critic, poet, and novelist. The production process entailed the careful selection of quotes from Vian that resonated with the thematic elements, which were subsequently translated into visual imagery. The intent was to engage in a slightly abstract form of expression rather than a literal depiction of the artwork. The color French blue was deliberately chosen to evoke associations with French work and military uniforms.

"C’est les jeunes qui se souviennent. Les vieux ils oublient tout " -It's the young who remember, the old forget everything.

The swirl motif idea was inspired by Boris Vian's profile photo, in which he is wearing a large swirl brooch.

The posters were made using the artwork from the printed t-shirt.

“Il ne sert à rien de vivre normalement, la normalité n’existe pas" -There's no use living normally; normality doesn't exist.

“Je ne veux pas gagner ma vie, je l’ai" -I don't want to earn my life; I own it.
